Valentine Cookies

Oh my. You've got to try these. I got this idea from the Little Birdie Secrets blog and made these with my Activity Day girls yesterday. We delivered them to our Bishopric and Primary presidency with homemade Valentine cards that they put together.

It is a super simple shortbread recipe and then you dip half the cookie in melted chocolate. HEAVENLY. It's a good thing we gave them away because they were amazing (seriously, how could it not be with a POUND of butter?!?!)
Here's the recipe via Little Birdie Secrets:
4 cups flour
1 lb. butter
1 cup sugar
1 tsp. almond extract (optional, I left it out since I don't like almond flavoring)
1 bag Wilton Candy Melts or similar melting chocolate.
Cream the butter and sugar, then add flour and mix well. Roll out on a lightly floured surface and cut into desired shapes. Bake at 300 degrees for 25-30 minutes.(Start checking after about 20 minutes. You want them to be just barely browning around the edges.) Yields about 3 dozen cookies, depending on size of your cookie cutter.
{Funny story, I was reading the blog of a friend of a friend because of something my friend wanted me to see on it. Then I saw that she was posting MY recipes as her own. I know they were mine because some of them are family recipes and because she copied my explanations word for word. Come on. Give credit where it is due!!!}

This is so great! I was making sugar cookies today and thought maybe I should blog about it too!! I think I have discovered some amazing secrets with cookie cut-outs and one of them is dipping...not frosting!!! You already know!

And LAME with the recipe. So sorry. I submitted a recipe to our RS Newsletter last year, and the editor EDITED my recipe. I was so mad!!! I called her on the carpet(she's my friend...really!) and then I had it sent out again corrected. I was so mad!

So cute! I have a mint brownie recipe that is to die for that has a pound of butter. I know it's because of the pound of butter.

What can I say that hasn't already been said? These look amazing, and I'm even more amazed that someone is passing off your recipes as their own!

Atlanta Bread Company has a chocolate-dipped shortbread cookie that is one of my favorite treats EVER. If these at all resemble those, I am in BIG trouble. Especially since I just started Weight Watchers :)

Recipe stealing - plagiarism at its best (worst). Maybe you should put out a recipe that has some wrong, weird ingredient and see if it gets posted as her own.
Mom

PS Dipping cookies that way seems a whole lot easier than frosting!
Good idea!
