First Day(s) of School

The school year has commenced! Carter's first day was last Thursday. He was very excited to start school again and seems to be adjusting very well. Our original plan was to send him on the bus but after talking to several moms in the area, I decided just to drive him every day. It works out fine because I have to be in the car to take Makenna to preschool anyway.

Carter's first day:

After school we had a little visit from the Back to School Fairy, which they loved, of course:

And our traditional caramel apples after school snack:

After the first day, I asked Carter how he liked school. He said, "I love it mom! First grade is the BEST! I can't wait to go back." I guess that means he likes it

Today was Makenna's first day of Preschool. She has been very excited to start. I have her at a religious based preschool and have heard really good things about it. I've been very impressed with them so far. She hardly batted an eye when I said goodbye to her, even though half of the kids were crying.

Next week we start all of our extra curricular activities. The summer has been fun and relaxing but I am really excited about the fall and for more of a schedule!

Oh are they ever CUTE! I cannot get over how light Makenna's hair is, she is beyond adorable! It looks like the back to school fairy brought awesome presents! Are there no desks in Carter's classroom? I know H. will have a desk (we don't start until next week) but I'm super curious is they will be grouped in pairs or squares or what... How do you like their teachers?

CUTE, CUTE, CUTE!!!

Skylar still sits at tables too. I am thinking this is a good thing since his desk would be a freaking disaster. I am gald Carter likes first grade. I thought it was a BIG adjustment.

P just got that Strawberry Shortcake doll too. I think it's SO cute!

Jan - Only tables, which I was surprised by. But they do have a cubby for school supplies under the desk. So far so good with the teachers. The school system here is horrible so I am reserving judgement for a few weeks.

Andrea- have you seen all the new SS stuff at Target? Swoon!! It has already been purchased and stuffed away for Christmas. I want to get it out and play with it myself! Oh, and I had to buy a 2nd doll because Addie loves it so much.

Cute pictures! Happy back to school to you and your darling kiddos, hope it's a great year. I too was surprised not to see desks...

Can't wait to see all the projects that occupy your time this FALL now that kids are in school!

They are so big!!! I'm glad they are both happy in their classes!

I'm thinking of skipping the whole bus thing too... it's just easier for me to know where they are who they are with (ie: Me!).

Such good lookin' kids! Carter is just so genuinely excited about school. Eric had tables in first grade (and it was a brand-new school, the tables were deliberate. I now think it is a good idea for first grade!) And the bus...we've been on and off with it. I think we are done with the bus now that Eric will be on a bus with 2-6 graders. It's hard because EVERYBODY takes the bus, but, well, I'm his mom and I know best! :) (And I'm willing to get out of my car with my little kiddos, go into the building to the sign-out desk and wait for him...) Who knows, maybe things will change again...

What cute kids! I may have to steal the Back to School Fairy idea. How fun! What are you going to do with yourself when the big kids are at school? Is Kenna doing JS? So glad their having fun!

It's too much! Your kids could not be cuter, and your traditions make me smile.

Carter and Kenna look so eager and happy to be going to school. I think that's really a positive sign. I'm glad they're so well adjusted. You and Addie will really have some great bonding time together this fall. Enjoy the moments, because she'll be starting pre-school before you know it, too!
