This is a hope chest that my mom and dad gave me one year for Christmas. It's been sitting in storage for a long time. Don't be jealous that you don't have the late 80s chintz that was used to decorate your room still in your possession.
One of the things I love about the house we're in right now is that we have a designated guest room. So I've been sprucing it up a bit for some fall company we have planned {the first of which is coming this weekend!} I have taken a HUGE departure from my traditional color palettes and have gone really bright and funky in this room. It is turning out really, really cute. This will give you a little glimpse at the brightness of the room. Here's the after of my hope chest:
{Promise she's not so shiny IRL - bad lighting}

Love it! You have a gift!
Love it...it is so adorable. I can't wait to see the whole room. How fun to re-use something that has meaning.
That is the cutest bench ever! I am SO IMPRESSED Q! Also...I love your header...that's a perfect pic of the family.
Super super cute! Love the fabric, love the red - cannot wait to see the rest!
It is so cute! I love the fabric and I love that you painted it red. I always get these great ideas and then can't bear to paint the furniture, ya know? Anyway, I'm just glad that you considered entering the contest.
Fun! I look forward to the room reveal!
That paisley fabric is TDF! Love the colors, and can't wait to see the entire room! I love your decorating posts!
ohhh....i remember that piece! it is darling, and i love the little hints of your room, green, red...i can already tell i'm going to love it. although, part of me thinks you should have kept the horrible fabric just for posteritys sake...you could one day pass it on to makenna :O
I do think I had a real life dress made out of the green floral. It was extra beautiful if I do say so myself.
I love the red--and the cute fabric you used. I am so tired of the same old color schemes so I really can't wait to see what you've done. Hurry! :0)
looks darling! I love bright and happy!
I'm dying to see the entire room! The bench turned out fabulously. :)
Having slept in that guest bedroom, I can just see how great these furniture colors match the wonderful bedding you have on the guest bed. Such creative ideas for little money. Your "Design on a Dime" is contagious.
