A Thrilling, Delicious, Pink Halloween

Friday night was our ward Trunk or Treat/Halloween Party activity. It was so fun for the kids to get dressed up in their costumes already. We had absolutely ZERO say in what our kids decided to be this year. After seeing all the Star Wars characters and princesses at our ward party, I was really happy that my kiddos picked such unique things to be this year!

A few weeks ago Carter changed his mind from being a Star Wars Jedi to being the Michael Jackson zombie from the Thriller video. He LOVES MJ and that video gets watched a lot at our house. Aunt Laurie was so gracious to supply our costume again this year and sent this awesome red jacket that we doctored up with some tape to look like the Thriller costume. As you would suspect, most of the kids his own age had no idea who he was dressed up as but most of the adults knew exactly who he was.

When I asked Makenna what she wanted to be this year, she immediately said she wanted to be Pinkalicious and that she wanted Addison to be her cupcake sidekick. I loved the idea and we set to work pulling together a perfect pink costume for her. She was super nervous about having her hair sprayed pink and her skin painted but in the end she loved how she looked. The girls were a big hit at the party (though a lot of people did not know who Pinkalicious is - I thought every little girl knew and loved that book like mine do). Addie's costume is straight out of the Pottery Barn Kids catalog. I had grand intentions of sewing this year but decided to give myself a break and purchase it instead!

I made the girls cupcake treat bags this year that turned out so cute! Carter used last year's bag since it still fit his theme for this year.
My cute gang together:We still have LOTS of Halloween action this year - school Halloween Boo Bash, ward Halloween carnival and then the actual day!

McCall's Pumpkin Patch

Last Saturday we made our annual trip to the pumpkin patch. It was a very warm day so my well intentioned, cute PP outfits did not make a debut. I've already decided for next year to skip the cute outfits and stick my kids in grubby tshirts since this patch is SO dusty and dirty. As always, we had a great time with all the activities at McCall's.

We started out with the train ride:

The kids' favorite thing for the last two years has been the corn pit (spent an hour in it this year) and the bouncy bubble:

We did the corn maze, slid down their slides over and over, played on the hay pyramid, the bounce house (again) and then the kids decided to "pan for gems," which was a new attraction this year. We bought a bag of dirt/sand/gems and let the kids use their panning supplies to get the gems out. They thought it was a great activity. By the time we had finished all of this we had been at the patch for about 3 hours and Addison was melting down and ready to go home. We still had not been out to the actual patch to pick our pumpkins. When we went to get in line for the hay ride we were told it would be at least a 2 hour wait to get out to the patch. At that point we threw in the towel, got the kids a treat and stopped by Wal Mart to get pumpkins on the way home. Slightly anti climatic but it worked out great.
The next couple of weeks are jam packed with fun Halloween festivities! I LOVE this time of year!

Home Again

{Our gang in San Juan, Puerto Rico- Frosts, Cobias and Partridges}

We are home from our dreamy, dreamy cruise vacation. We really had the BEST time and it was truly the most relaxing vacation of my life. I LOVED uplugging from the world for an entire week and spending the time connecting with Allen. We had plenty of fun too on the ship and in our ports. I have a lot to blog about but we shared the picture taking duties with our friends so we will have to wait until we get all the pictures in one place.

The kids did great with my parents, though I'm pretty sure my parents are happy their child raising days are behind them! We missed the kids but knew they were in great, capable hands. We only talked to them once the entire week! It was honestly a little bit hard to leave the vacation behind and return to the real world of parenting and responsibilities. The week before our trip was insane getting ready to go and this week has been insane attempting to catch up, but it was all worth it for our week in paradise! I'll be back soon!
