Poor Makenna had such a sad day today. Carter was invited over for a playdate with a little friend today and she didn't get invited. When the mom came to pick Carter up (she was out running errands) Makenna sat on our front step and cried for about 10 minutes. Poor girl! It seriously made me SO sad. It got me thinking how close my kids are. They just love each other and are rarely away from one another. They are really attached at the hip and do just about everything together. Makenna usually naps the entire time C is at school. It is going to be hard next year when Carter is at school all day.
So, even though I wasn't planning to run errands today I packed her into the car for a special Mommy date. We went and bought her leotard, tights and her ballet and tap shoes for her little dance class that starts next week (can hardly wait, giddy with excitement just thinking about it) and then went out to lunch. It was fun to have one on one time together.
I guess this is just part of the growing up experience but I think it was just as hard on me as it was on her!!

I think it's almost more devastating as mom to see your little one with a broken heart. Sounds like the date mended all. And I'm so with you - I cannot wait for Isabel to start a dance class! Will definitely need pics of Makenna in leotard and all.
It must be so hard to be the "little one" of the family. Nathan has been asking "where sisters go?" on and off for 2 hrs. every day the girls go to preschool. I too, wonder if it's harder on me or him?
That's really sweet that they are so close! I'm glad you were able to have a special girls day with Makenna while Carter was with his pal. Can't wait to see dance pictures!!!
A big congrats for buying tights, leotards, the works! It's like a step back in time to read of my granddaughters doing the same thngs my daughters did! And like me, you have to gulp at the price of everything that is required to keep these little ones busy and talent enhanced! GO MAKENNA!
Grandma B!
aw...that's how my boys are too. They are inseparable. I hardly ever let Skylar go to other kids houses because it makes me to sad to see Hayden feeling left out. He is so happy when Skylar's friends come over.
Piper starts dance in January and I am SOOOOOOOO excited. M is going to be SO cute!!!
Avery would be jealous. She's dying for a chance at dance class, but I keep putting her off until we're 'settled'. I'm sure M will love it.
