Dixon Apple Farm

Earlier this week I heard about an apple farm between Albuquerque and Santa Fe and we decided to go bright and early on Saturday. It is only open to the public for four weeks a year and the place was swamped with buyers. The farm grows a special variety of apple called the champagne and it is one of the yummiest apple's I've ever eaten! We bought about 25 lbs. of apples so I've got some serious cooking/baking to do! Here are a few pictures from our morning:

A sampling of the apples:

This picture of the youngest yahoo seriously cracks me up. She's at SUCH a fun age right now and has become such a little picture hog:
Climbing and climbing the apple trees:

Enjoyed way too many of the most delicious homemade apple fritters ever:

She gnawed and gnawed on this apple the entire morning at the farm and most of the way home too:

Heading home {and looking straight into the sun...ah well}:It was such a fun morning and one of my favorite FALL traditions! I made the most to die for apple cobbler tonight with some of our apples and will post the recipe in the next few days!

2. I haven't seen those kids in way too long.
3. We're SO excited to come visit. I mean, ridiculously excited.

OK, how fun it that! You all look amazing (great pics by the way!).

Miss M. is growing up and her hair is so long (Daivd won't let me keep Kate's hair long) I love it!

Have fun eating all those yummy apples and apple treats!

Really fun! And I might say that I can see what fun you are having with your new camera, the pics are awesome! Of course, cute subjects, but that goes without saying...

So fun! Lily was just lamenting that there aren't apple orchards near us... It just seems so delightfully fallish!

Delightful! I love this time of year even if it is still blazing hot out. Cute pics of the kids! How was your photography class?

P.S. Those fritters make my mouth water.

Hey - I heard you had dinner with my sister a few weeks ago! She said (I already told her this, of course) that your kids are precious!

On another note, I'm hoping to take my kiddos picking this weekend while Paul is gone. Fun, fun!

Now if you were in Phoenix you'd have a drive to find somewhere to pick apples! Happy for you. I went apple picking one fall with Jennifer in Michigan. Addie is getting so big! one of my office staff saw her picture on my calendar and said how cute she is. Love, Mom Frost

What a great day! I could almost smell the apples from all of your great photos. I especially love the one with the kiddos in the wagon.
