RAINBOW Guest Room

So much for posting twice a week right? I've had a few things going on but I'm frankly mostly just enjoying the lull between Halloween and Christmas. Thank goodness for November! I have lots of holiday/vacation fun up my sleeve so I can hopefully get back to posting more often.

Ok, so it's about time I shared the pictures of my little guest room makeover. Let me preface by saying that I totally did it on the CHEAP. Just over $100 cheap, which is really good for me. Most of the money was spent on the bedding. Everything else was repurposed and pulled from other places in my house. I used lots and lots of spray paint too! There are still more things in the works/floating around in my brain, but I've put it on the back burner for now until I get through the holidays and finish redecorating the master bedroom (turning out beyond fantastic - I can't wait to share that with you).

I also have to give a disclaimer on the pictures. This room is pretty tiny so I had a hard time getting a snapshot of the entire room. Here you go:
Bedding:

Turquoise dresser (still debating if I think it's too bright. I might tone it down with some black stain):
Star wall:The entire room:

Doesn't my redone hope chest look super cute at the foot of the bed? I think so too ;0) Scroll down the page to see the lovely before shot of that piece.
This was a super fun room to put together. The bedding is from Target. I pulled my initial inspiration for the room from Meg Duerksen who has GREAT, funky style and takes amazing photos. I decided to go with the bright colors to counteract the blah white walls. In the opposite corner I have my upholstered rocking chair and a big blank wall.
Thanks for looking! Be back soon!

Wow, your new guest room decor is a big change! I'll come visit sometime!
the Halloween costumes were so cute - the candy corn princess tutus and wands are precious. I love Carter's glasses, "scar" and scarf.

Love you. Mom Frost

Fun, cute room! I love it, I'm such a color girl. I really love the star collection - lovely. Nicely done, can't wait to see the master! Maybe you can inspire me; my master is SO boring and needs a serious facelift.

What a happy room! I love the polka dots on the bedding and the wall of stars - how did you come up with so many, so inexpensively? I am impressed! Can't wait to see your master, too!

I LOVE all the bright colors! It looks Amazing! I can't wait to see what you're doing with the Master bedroom :0). So did you use spray paint for the dresser and hope chest? If so, how many coats did it take to get a good coverage?

Dad and I slept there when...
You hadn't gone wild with spray paint yet; the star collection was non-existent; the much treasured hope chest still had its 1980's look! (I wonder how come you were the only daughter that received a hope chest as a gift.) You're making that rental into a homey and inviting place for your family! Hurrah for such a good job!

holy cow--so, so cute!!! The stars are my favorite, favorite part. So much personality...they honestly do make the room a happy place. I need to get better acquainted with spray paint.
