Carter's Baptism

Last Saturday Carter was baptized and confirmed a member of the church. It was a wonderful day and felt like a huge stepping stone in our lives as parents! We are so thrilled that Carter made the decision to be baptized and that he has been so intent on trying to listen to and follow the spirit. My parents and Allen's mom were able to come to town for the big weekend. Carter's grandma's gave the baptism and holy ghost talks and Allen baptized and confirmed him. It was a really special experience to watch him get baptized. He has been excited and waiting for his baptism day for so long. Here are a few pictures of his big day:

We had an open house at our home after the baptism and had many of our friends join us. It was a bit stressful to pull it off less than 2 weeks after having a new baby but my parents and Allen's mom really stepped up and helped a ton. Everyone had a great time and we had lots of yummy food!

A couple cute, recent stories that I've wanted to record about Carter:

1. Last fast Sunday we asked him to fast for breakfast since it was the first fast Sunday since he turned 8. He was a bit nervous but we assured him he could do it. A few minutes after we talked about it he came into the bathroom where I was getting ready for church. He said to me, "Mom, I'm not worried about getting hungry any more. I said a prayer about it and the spirit filled me up instead of food."

2. Last week Carter brought home a homework assignment. He was supposed to read a passage and then answer some questions about it. He brought the questions home but left the passage at school. He was VERY upset about it and I told him there was really no way for him to answer the questions without the passage to refer to. He left the room and came back a few minutes later and told me he was going to try anyway. When I questioned him about how he would be able to answer the questions without the passage he said, "oh mom, I prayed that I would be able to figure out the answers without doing the reading." I told him that it might not work out that he would be answer the questions. He interrupted me and said, "mom, are you saying that Heavenly Father can't answer my prayer? I know He can help me figure it out." Needless to say, I was pretty humbled by his faith and knew that he was right in that Heavenly Father COULD answer his prayers.

We are so grateful for Carter and his wonderful faith and commitment to follow the spirit and live the gospel!

I teared up reading the stories, I love the Faith that children can have and what they can teach us!

Oh, and is he really old enough to be Baptized? I remember him eating cheerios during Presidency meetings... he was still just a baby! Congrats to him, that's a big step in growing up!

Okay, I have no idea how you pulled off a baptism 2 weeks after a baby. I know that is something that I never, ever could have done. Not even at my very best. You look great and we are so happy for Carter!

Carter is such a great example and leader as your oldest - what a fantastic kid with a faith already big enough to move mountains!

And you are doing SO, SO awesome as a mom of four - you all look gorgeous, especially little Miss E!
