Anyway... first up our Valentines this year. I've mentioned before that C&M go to a "no treat" school. I kind of hate it, especially on holidays. So, we had to come up with a fun idea that did not involve any kind of candy or sweet. I bought these sticky heart throwers on Oriental trading (100 for $5) and made up this Valentine in photoshop. Super fast and easy and the kids said they were a big hit with their friends.
We whipped up a few of these for their teachers. Again, super fast as I just printed off the tags and attached them to a box of brownies (I'm definitely not above sucking up to my kids' teachers!)
Valentine morning we had a fun pink breakfast of heart pancakes with whipped cream and Valentine sprinkles and a red smoothie. Everyone got a small gift from us - the girls got some heart jewelry, Carter got an Angry Birds puzzle and Ems got a new book. I got Allen some fancy BYU polo he has been wanting (did you know there was such a thing? Me either). Allen got me a gorgeous new Coach bag since I was more than ready to stop carrying a diaper bag!
Before school (yay for Valentine outfits fitting 2 years in a row!)
Kids lunches - heart PB&J, strawberries, pretzel hugs, RED pringles and a can of CRUSH soda. My kids got in trouble for bringing pop to school (I have never sent it before) but I loved the idea of a crush on Valentines day!
That night for dinner I ordered 2 Papa Murphy's heart shaped pizzas. When I called that afternoon the girl told me that each pizza fed 2-3 people so I ordered two just in case. Those things are HUGE and one would have fed my family just fine. It ended up working out perfectly though. My friend Chelsey stopped by to drop off some Valentines from her kids to mine. Her husband was out of town and she was taking her 4 kids to dinner by herself. I convinced her to stay and have dinner with us since I had a ton of extra pizza. Allen was on his way out the door to go to YM's so we didn't have any fancy, romantic plans anyway. Luckily I had plenty of stuff on hand to double my chocolate fondue recipe, which is our traditional Valentines day dessert. Our kids loved it as is evidenced by the full mouths and dirty faces:
Allen and I go on a date every weekend anyway so we just called one of our dates our official Valentines date. We had a great day and had lots of fun with friends and family!

Monique, you're the best! Don't be surprised if I "unexpectedly" drop by next year too! We all had a blast. Thanks for being a great friend!
You do such a great job on holidays. I didn't know about your school's no treat policy but I think that is great! I personally would love it. I too picked up a papa Murphy pizza- and thought it was so gross! We had to force ourselves to eat it, so I'm glad you guys like yours! I think next year I'll be buying Crush for my kids!
I have to tell you, I'm really jealous that your school has a 'no treat' rule. I get annoyed that my kids gets sweets/candies from school several times a week, especially when I'm trying hard at home to feed them good things to build up their immune system so they can fight off sick germs and not get sick.
I love all the cute festive things you do for the holidays! Keep it up! And thanks for sharing your ideas!
Fun stuff, Monique! That picture of the 4 kiddos is completely darling - swoon-worthy to be sure.
I love your blog and I love reading about all the cute things you do. Your kids are so lucky to have such sweet memories and to have a wonderful mommy that puts so much effort into making them feel so special. Good job, Monique!!! :)
