Checking in
From my iPhone (hoping this works).
We are finally in Washington! Hallelujah!
It was a somewhat rocky and stressful road getting here, as moving always is. We has so many people who helped and served us those last couple weeks and I can't imagine being able to pull off our move without all the kindnesses shown.
The last day of school was June 1 and I decided to pick up my kids and head to Colorado that day. We had been living in a hotel for 6 days and I was done with it. Leaving Albuquerque was so so so hard. My heart truly hurt as I said goodbye to my dear, beloved friends. I sobbed as we drove out of town. I feel so blessed that I was surrounded by amazing women during my 3 years there. What I did not anticipate with this move is how much it would affect my older kids. Both carter and Makenna have had a hard time with this move and we realize the era of moving is over for our family. It is getting too hard for our kids.
I stayed in Denver for just over a week and it was just what the doctor ordered. I really needed a week off to decompress emotionally and physically. I got to spend quality time with the kids which had been sorely lacking the previous couple weeks. We did something fun every day and spent lots of carefree hours lounging in the yard and pool.
We flew to Washington on Sunday (my car was shipped up here earlier in the week). We stopped by the house that night and found that someone in the ward had left welcome treats for us. We slso met a few neighbors and the kids played in the cul de sac eith a bunch of kids. It was s good start yo life here. All our stuff was dropped off on Monday and the hideousness of unpacking has begun. Monday night another neighbor stopped by with treats and Tuesday a member of the ward dropped by to offer to take me to enrichment the next night. I did go to enrichment last night and had a great time. The ward is very friendly and diverse and I am excited tone part of it.
The house is still a full on disaster but I'm trying to be patient with it. I'm finding I can't work as quickly as I would like to but realize my kids need me more than the house does. School isnt out here until the 22nd so I'm in charge of indoor (still rainy) summer entertainment. We've had to venture out for some fun every day for all of our sanities. I've already renewed my pass to the children's museum and we are planning a hike for today if the weather cooperates.
We are most grateful to be back together as a family after 10 weeks apart. I was reminded frequently during the last months how much better my life is with Allen in it.
I'll be back with lots of pictures once we get the computer set up!(ps forgive my typos, I'm on a tiny screen and can't spell check!)

I'm so happy you are all together again!!! It was super hard when we did the same thing, even with my family to help me and you did it on your own (((HUGS)))!
So did you buy your house, rent? I can't wait to hear about it!
Oh, and good luck with the adjustment to the difference in weather!
