What a day!

This week has been CRAZY with all the moving stuff (10 zillion and one phone calls) and having a ton to do to get ready for our Stake Women's Conference this weekend. I was put on the committee long before we knew we were moving and the timing hasn't been great.

Anyway, today was the big set up day at the stake center. I have been in charge of the decorations and it has been a very big job. So I was there with the kids getting all the table centerpieces set up, ironing table cloths, etc. etc. The kids were so great and just played around in the gym. Right before we were going to go home for naps and lunch, the kids were playing on the chairs in the foyer. Makenna fell off one of the chairs and would not stop crying. I took her home and put her down for a nap. When she woke up she immediately started to cry again and kept saying "Oww" and holding her arm.

I had to be back at the church to finish up some displays that I was in charge of. So off we went with sad Makenna. My friend who has been working on this project with me is a Pediatric Nurse and she looked at Makenna's arm and did some exercises with her and thought it looked ok. A few minutes later she tripped and fell in the gym and immediately grabbed her arm and started to cry again.

Al came and took her to the doctor late this afternoon to have her checked. Sure enough, our poor sweet babe broke her arm in TWO places!!! We can hardly believe it. No one at the doctor's office could believe it either because she was acting so normal. She has a splint on for the weekend and we will take her in to the orthopedist on Monday to have her permanent cast put on. She will be in the cast for at least a month and it will be up to her armpit at a 90 degree angle. Logistically, this is pretty much a nightmare from the moving standpoint. We will have to find a pediatrician and an orthopedist immediately when we move. And it also means that there will be no time in the pool for at least the first two weeks we are there (what else is there to do??) Anyway, we are of course glad that she is doing ok. She got some sympathy ice cream tonight at DQ and she really hammed it up for everyone there. Seriously, what a day!

Oh my goodness! :( Poor thing! I'm still having a hard time believing that happened, oh man, poor girl. Let me know if there's anything we can do.

Oh, my goodness! That is so sad! She is so brave to make it that long with a broken arm. Glad she's OK now!

Poor little Makenna. That happened to my friend's daughter who was 9 mo. she broke her leg and they didn't figure it out for about a week! I feel sympathy for her with that cast...i had one too at one time. They're big and clunky and make it difficult to bathe....

Hi there, I grew up with LJ and am a frequent reader of you blog. I live in Mesa and just wanted to let you know that my son just got out a cast for a fractured femur so I know a good orthropod (and even a good pediatrician) here in the Mesa area. I'm not even sure what part of Pheonix you're moving too, but if it's close to Mesa then I can give you some names if you want. Good luck with everything.
