4th of July

We had a great 4th of July this year. It's pretty much tradition to spend it with my family and always so fun. We started the day by running a rousing 3.2 miles as part of the Provo Freedom Run 5K. Don't be too impressed, I'm STILL sore.

After a quick shower and breakfast at the hotel, we took some pictures and then headed off to the parade:

The kids were completely enamored by the floats, bands and people in the parade. We had a couple of celebrity sitings - Glenn Beck was actually in the parade and Donny Osmond was filming his son on a float about 1 foot away from us. The floats were quite impressive and it was fun to see how the whole community was involved in the parade.

A few of our cute parade goers:

After the parade we headed to El Azteca for lunch and then back to the hotel for naps and some time in the pool. That evening we were invited to one of my cousins house for a BBQ and fireworks. This was for sure a highlight of the trip for me. I got to be with my family and spend a lot of time with several of my cousins and their families. We took some pictures of the cousins all together:

Did sparklers and tons of fireworks:
We finished up by watching the fireworks from the stadium of fire and having ice cream cones. It was a wonderful day celebrating the freedom of this amazing country and spending time with family!

Sounds like an awesome 4th of July! And congrats on doing the run--I would have needed CPR if I had tried it at all!

Oh fun! I wish we could've seen you guys but I figured you'd be busy w/family for the 4th. I'm glad that you all had a good time and hopefully it was a little bit of a weather break from the Arizona heat...but I don't know how hot it is there now so maybe it wasn't? Good job on your run!

I AM impressed with the run. The only 5K I've ever done was when I was about 9. After the race started, I realized that this was going to take a while and I wasn't too happy about it! Needless to say, I haven't tried again!:) Anyway, I loved the girls' dresses too! What a fabulous day!

I just love Provo's Freedom Festival! I'm so jealous you were able to be there for the 4th!

I don't know what the 4th is like in your new area, but it's a total bummer here (I'm sure you remember). There isn't anything that compares to Provo on the 4th!

Where did your little baby go? Holy cow...she is already big. And so cute! I love the girls dresses...I don't think I've ever seen them before. That is quite a feat for me, LOL. WTG on the 5K. I couldn't run a .5K.
