Meet my new BFF

Yes, I'm having a love affair with a can of black spray paint!! Seriously, I never knew how versatile one little old can could be. Here are some examples. Remember those white shelves that everyone and their dog had from PB? Yeah, I have a stack of them sitting in my garage... I'm pretty much over them.

After:(Melissa, do you recognize that far right F?! I saw your blog post about the wire letters this morning!)

Need more convincing? Check out this step stool. It sat outside by our trampoline the entire year we lived in Seattle. Needless to say, the rain took it's toll. But it's the perfect size for my little half bath and I wanted to see if I could resurrect it.

And I don't have a before picture of these topiaries. The bases used to be shabby chic white. Like I said, I'm over the white so I made them over with more black spray paint:

Dear black spray paint, my husband and decorating budget sincerely thank you!! (I prefer semi gloss for a nice finish). And since I'm too lazy (as usual) to edit my pics, rest assured that none of the above projects remotely look like they've been spray painted.

I'm having a big shin dig at my house tomorrow night, hence my absence. Nothing like a party to make you finish a million little decorating/home improvement projects. Stay tuned for details.

Until then, you MUST go see Mamma Mia! I went out with a group of girlfriends last week and absolutely LOVED the movie. It is the most fun movie I've seen in a long time. I am a huge ABBA fan so it was especially great. The soundtrack is awesome too! (My only beef with the movie is that Colin Firth's character is gay - I just don't buy it. I guess he can't be perfect Mr. Darcy forever)

OK, I SO totally needed this post! I just bought a super cute new black TV stand, but it doesn't match my lighter colored coffee table/end table. People have been telling me to spray paint them black, but I have been hesitant. You've convinced me! Your stuff all looks way cute. The wire F is TDF cute! What a great idea to just get the letter of your last name!

My mom just saw Mamma Mia and raved about it too, I'll put it on my girls' night out list. I was raised on Abba - all the back to my grandparents, who love them! How funny.

Good luck with your huge party - let us know how it goes!

Awesome! I love your "F" collection, I have one too, lol. Where did you find the cute wire one? And thanks for the paint recommendation. I have a few projects that might get finished someday, lol.

I need to see Mamma Mia. I saw it on broadway so I'm sure I'll love it too.

I am also a huge fan of black spray paint. Many a thing in my home as been altered with a little ole can of black paint. Your "F" shelf is DIVINE! I may have to steal.... that would be just the thing for above the buffet in the front room. I'm so greedy - more house pics, please!!

L-O-V-E your F ledge! Super cute! I just ordered the "R" to hang in my craft space - thankyouverymuch! And that little stool is darling - I'm going to have to look around here and see what I could possibly convert with spraypaint...GREAT job on your projects and I hope everything goes great with the par-tay!

OH yes, the wonderful black spray paint was discovered last summer...when I was pregnant...so poor Greg seemed to come home from work with yet another project ready and waiting on newspaper out in the garage. It's really amazing. I've used it mostly on frames. It makes for great collages of black frames that are not the same wood/cut/detailing to begin with. And sounds like the family name initial is the thing to do! Really fun. I'm so behind with things like this!

Not that you need more comments, but I'm sooooo over white too!

I have some of those shelves that I should change up too! Great idea!

Can't wait to see what kind of shin-dig you are having!

LOL, I love me some black spray paint too! I did a bunch of projects earlier this month and I went through 4 cans of it. I painted my front door, shutters, a little shelf and cabinet, some chairs and a wicker basket.

Such a fun post- I love seeing redo's!

I am a spray paint chicken. I just know somehow I would ruin everything. I love your F ledge though. What a cute idea. And I might need to get myself a big R from PBT. So, so cute.

So clever--I love how you restored the footstool that our lovely climate destroyed.

I love spray paint too. It is so great for painting anything. I got a little crazy on the spray paint while in my nesting phase about a month ago. Wish I had that drive again.......

I found the BEST paint at Lowe's- it's the Krylon in the white can and the color is DARK BRONZE. I spray painted each and every one of our scary-ugly circa 2000 light fixtures prior to moving from AZ. It worked wonders....then the silly movers declined to pack and move all the extra cans I had. Good luck finding it- you will be sooo happy with the results. And you'll have a new BFF!
