It doesn't always go as planned....

In Carter's preschool class, each child is assigned a show and tell time once a month. Last month he begged me to let him bring Addison for his turn. I thought she was a little too young but I promised him he could bring her this month. So, I cleared it with his teacher and we planned to bring Addie to Show and Tell today.

I often pack our lunch and go to the park right across the street from Carter's school and let the kids eat and play before school. Today was one of those days. I had Addie all decked out in a cute new outfit. While we were at the park she started to get really fussy. I got her out of the carseat and as I picked her up, poop started dripping out the bottom of her pants. It only got worse from there. I took her to the car and had to strip her completely down - she had poop all the way up to her neck and dripping down both legs. She was completely covered!!! It took me 22 wipes to get her cleaned up (yes, I counted). Then I discovered the awful truth - I had no clothes to change her into. I took my spare outfit out a couple days ago intending to replace it with something more seasonally appropriate. It was way too late to go home and find her a new outfit and I knew it would devastate Carter to postpone his show and tell another month. So... we took her in her diaper and wrapped in a blanket. Seriously, could it be any more ghetto than that?!?

The silver lining is that Carter was thrilled to take her and his class absolutely loved it. I'm pretty sure no one noticed that she wasn't even dressed! So, life doesn't always go as planned but it worked out anyway! This isn't a great picture but here we are during the show and tell:

Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry. Those up the back ones are the worst. Charlie did that during our drive home to Utah from CT while we in the car at lunch. Just horrible.

Oh Monique! This makes for a much better story though - lol. You poor thing!!! I'm glad to see her bow was unscathed! That is a really sweet picture from show and tell!

The best laid plans... Isn't parenting really about learning that very little in life actually goes as planned? I'm sure Carter will only remember he got to show off his sweet new baby sister. Cute pic.

When I was in forth grade I asked my mother to bring my baby brother Steven for show and tell. I certainly don't remember the clothes, but it is one of the most memorable events of my childhood. Ya done good.

oh I am so sorry...but I love that you counted the wipes, LOL. That's funny. And you are so right...I bet no one else even noticed. Thank goodness her blanket stayed safe :0)!

So sad! Hope Addie is feeling better!

It's way too cute that Carter wanted to "show her off"! What a great big brother he is!

When Stephen was a baby, Nicole earned the right, with her Bingham Bucks, to take him to school. Yes, she actually had to save up her "Bucks" and buy her way to show off her brother. Since he was the ONLY baby born that year in the Bingham Elementary School area, he was quite a novelty! The diaper thing is so typical of..the best plans of....! But, remember, it's the baby not the outfit that counts!

*laughing*

That's hilarious! I bet the class loved her, blanket and all. And at least she had a bow in her hair.

That was a great story! I love that you didn't run her home but just brought her to the school in her diaper! What a precious baby! That reminds me, I need to replace my backup outfit in my diaper bag. Molly just had an "accident" like the one you're describing and I haven't replaced her outfit in my bag either!

Trauma! At least it was just show-off for the pre-school class, could have been a much tougher crowd. ;) And, I don't think you could do ghetto if you tried. The picture is sweet, and you'll never forget the experience. :)

Did I really type "show-off" instead of "show & tell?" um, hi.

This is one of those stories that will become priceless--harrowing now, but a chershed memory in the making! A few years ago when we were visiting my family in LV, we all drove out to Redrock Canyon. My niece, Kyla, was just 6 weeks old. When we got to Redrock (about 30 minutes from LV), my sister realized Kyla had done the "poop-up-the-back" thing. The only thing she had to put her in was her cow costume (Halloween was a few weeks earlier) that happened to still be in the trunk. So she put Kyla in her cow costume and into the front pack and off we went. Kyla's middle name is Mae, but on that trip, we dubbed her Kyla Moo. She's now 5 1/2 and I still call her Kyla Moo.

This story is a classic! I can't believe that such a little girl is worthy of 22 wipes!!! She did look adorable because ya know she had the trusty bow of course!
