First of all, keep commenting on the giveaway if you haven't already. I'll draw a name sometime tomorrow so you really have until midnight (or when I check my blog tomorrow) to comment.
Ok, now on to my real reason for posting. I'm an idiot. Seriously. Carter's birthday is next Thursday. In years past, I have just done birthday and Christmas shopping for him at the same time. Then at some point we sit down and figure out what to give him for each occasion. In an effort to spread out the spending, I decided to wait until after Christmas to tackle his birthday. Biggest.Mistake.Ever. Have you looked for a toy in the last 2 weeks (probably not because you haven't even found places for all your Christmas toys yet!). Oh my gosh. Nightmare. Target has absolutely nothing. Row after row of empty shelves. ToysRUs is cleaned out too. And even Wal Mart.
So in desperation, I've done all my birthday shopping online. So much for saving money. I HATE spending money on shipping and I've spent a ton. And I don't even know if I'll get some of the stuff on time. Cross your fingers and say a prayer for me (for real). I'm going to feel like the worst mom ever if his gifts haven't gotten here (I literally have 1 thing for him in my current possession). As if having a birthday 3 weeks after Christmas wasn't bad enough. Ugh.

sorry. January birthdays are tough. Hopefully you'll be pleasantly surprised by how quickly your packages ship.
I'm sure it will be OK! I hate paying shipping too, it's the worst.
I don't think there is ever a "good" time to shop, I had the buying too far in advance come back to haunt me this year (some stuff was missing parts & the receipts had expired!).
I'm so sorry. It must just be down there because I went to Toys R Us here yesterday and they had tons of stuff. Let me know if you want me to pick something up and mail it to you.
hey, think of it this way -- you at least have one thing for him to open, and then each time something new comes in the mail he'll get to open another -- it will draw his birthday out for a couple of days and he'll love it, trust me. tell him you mailed the presents specially to him, and let him open them straight from the mailbox. he'll think it's totally cool -- what kid doesn't love mail and packages?
Kayla has a great idea! Makes the fun last that much longer. Eldon, Rob, and Jason have b-days within 3 weeks of each other, and they are always getting presents through that whole 3-week span. So far, none of them seem to be scarred for life. :-)
He'll survive no matter what! Sometimes other things are more memorable than toys!
Have a happy!
Mom
I'd keep checking Target. Our toy department was in the middle of a big overhaul yesterday. My mom sent my boys a gift card to Target and they had the best time deciding what to buy with their $$. They picked out things I never would have but were so thrilled. Maybe you could go that route this year and make a date out of it?
Totally annoying! I'm so sorry! That sounds like my luck...It will all work out!!
Hey Monique, I just love reading your blog! Happy Birthday to Carter! I am sure he will be happy with however it turns out. And if the presents come late--more days of opening presents right? Glad you had a great Christmas!
