We closed on our house today! And let me tell you, it was an enormous hassle. We really had no idea what to expect since we've never purchased a brand new home. When you buy a house from an existing owner you all go to closing together and sign all the paperwork and then get your keys. It's a pretty painless process. BUT when you buy a new home the process is so different. We had to go to the title company a couple days ago to sign all the paperwork. They told us it would take about 1 hour so I packed the kids some snacks and our little DVD player and thought we would be well prepared to handle the situation. About half way through signing the zillions of loan documents I realized they had put the WRONG ADDRESS on everything. I'll spare you the details but will just say that what was supposed to take 1 hour took over 3. Nightmare. Then our loan was supposed to be funded by yesterday but the bank had a different closing date than everyone else. Our flooring guys were supposed to start ripping out our carpet today but we couldn't get into the house until late this afternoon when the loan was finally funded. I feel like I've had a phone attached to my head for the last week. I'm so glad we're finally done!! And of course we're thrilled to be home owners once again! Here's a pic of the kids standing outside the house today with our 3 pallets of tile!!

And one more of the two of them in the bonus room:

Another big thing that happened is that
Makenna got her cast off yesterday. It was an extremely traumatic experience for her. Poor thing. They use a saw to cut off the cast and she was terrified. Then she was SO sad when we threw the cast away. They did give us an option to keep the cast, but let me tell you, that thing was seriously NASTY. I saw a lot of parents leaving with their casts though. I think that's pretty gross. Anyway, apparently she was quite attached to her cast. The funniest part is her little tan line. Isn't it so cute?

Happy New Home! The kids look so cut in front of the house! I hope everything goes more smoothly now.
PS. The girls have M's cute dress too, just couldn't resist it!
Congrats! Glad you finally got your keys. Sorry about all the hassle. Glad M got her cast off!
Hooray for the new home and for the cast off!
Lucky to be your mom! Your blogs make me laugh, cry, gasp, cringe, puff up with pride--just generally help me to know what a terrific daughter I have!
