Hi all. Holy-cow-I-need-a-nap. It has been a whirlwind of activity for the last couple weeks. Moving is hard, even when a company is doing all the packing and driving. But we are here and adjusting just fine. Here are the highlights & lowlights from the last couple weeks. Maybe I'll add pictures later, maybe not.
1. We took a quick trip up to Vancouver, BC over Memorial Day weekend. We had a good time but didn't love the city of Vancouver. I don't know how else to describe it except for that it was one of the most worldly cities I have ever been in. (This is saying a lot as I have traveled all over Europe.) Anyway, we still had a good time swimming in the hotel pool, visiting Stanley park and hiking through the Capilano valley and seeing the suspension bridge. We were happy to return to the good old USA though.
2. Moving went as smoothly as it possibly could. Except for a couple hour delay on our flight from Seattle, everything went perfectly. We are in our temporary housing (a very nice furnished apartment near Al's office) and getting settled in. The movers dropped off our stuff to storage today and we were able to get a few things (like our computer) from them. We are enjoying eating out on the company (in case you're wondering, we are authorized to eat out Breakfast and Dinner M-F and then all three meals on the weekends. We clearly do not take advantage of all of that but we have fun trying new restaurants.)
3. We attended our new ward yesterday and are thrilled with it. It is very big (over 600 members) and was just split 1 year ago. We are moving to a booming new growth area. Anyway, this ward FOR SURE gets the award for the most friendly ward in the church. We are so impressed. I already have several play dates scheduled this week for the kids. And people have totally gone out of their way to help us out. Such a blessing
4. I forgot what a pain moving is. Ugh. But I have already nailed down preschool for Carter and a new pediatrician. The rest of the next couple of weeks will be hammering out details on the house. Buying a new construction house has a lot of additional stuff that has to be done. I will be happy when it is all settled and we have moved in. Next on my list is the car reregistration and then pricing out insurances (hate this the most). Sometimes I wish I weren't so thorough with things :)
5. I have a ton of email and blogs to catch up on. It seems that everyone I know has big changes happening in their lives right now. Tis the season. I promise to work on catching up with everyone this week.

Thanks so much for doing a post! I was really anxious to hear how everything went. I'm glad things are going well so far. And thanks for jotting down some things you've got to do when you move, because we're going to have to do those things soon too and It's hard to remember everything. Perhaps I'll start making a list of the things that you mention :). Love you all!
Glad to hear you are past the worst of it. Now all you have to do is look forward to the house getting done!
