Happiness Is...

a new box of crayons! Well, for Carter anyway. A couple weeks ago Carter left his big box of Crayons at Makenna's dance studio. We live about 20 minutes away so there was no way I was driving back for the crayons. In case you're wondering, Carter is our little artist. He spends probably at least an hour a day drawing and coloring. He is only allowed to use crayons upstairs (markers are reserved for the kitchen only) and he was so sad about his missing crayons all week. A few days after leaving the crayons we were at Target so I grabbed him a new box. To say he was thrilled would be an understatement. I knew we had a happy boy when I found him sleeping with his new box of crayons that night!

And his favorite thing to draw, of course, is super heroes! Here are a few of his recent drawings:
Batman:

Robin:Spiderman:Green Lantern:

Superman:We're planning to put him in a little art class this summer since he loves it so much! And I love that it makes him so happy.

(PS- I'm trying to catch up on posts I've been wanting to do since I decided a few weeks ago to have my blog printed up on my 2 year anniversary!)

He's good! I'll show Nathan those when he wakes up from his nap, he will be in heaven! I think he's going to be an "Action Hero" kinda kid too!

How exciting to get you blog printed! You'll have to tell us how the process goes!

Love them. Action heroes to boys must be like princesses to girls, all the detials are there and different! Once Avery turns 5 she'll be elligible for my sister's art classes and can't wait! Fun!

Holy cow, he's really good. But nothing tops the portrait he did of me in the Moleskine...I still show that to people and laugh my brains out.

He's quite the little artist! That is so cute about sleeping with his crayons.

Do tell how the blog-printing process goes.

I'm impressed! He's a great little artist for his age. Lily loves to color too. It's such a good thing for kids. Speaks volumes about your parenting that he is patient enough to just sit and color,in this age of TV and video games. ;)

Gosh Monique--he is REALLY talented. Like really. Skylar's drawings are not even close to that, LOL. Tell him that my boys and I are super impressed. I love coloring and still steal my kids coloring books.

Let's just say Carter doesn't get his artistic talent from his father.

What I meant by that last comment is that I work strictly in stick figures. Carter has talent!

Wow he his a great artist! Are you printing your blog through blurb.com? I'm working on my 2007 blog right now and as soon as it's finished i'll get it printed, we want to print one for each year to keep as our photo journal

I'm with Allen. Stick figures rock! When I was growing up, we used to get graded for our art work in class. I had A's in everthing else, but that C in art was a low; in fact, I think it was the lowest grade one could receive for art. I just didn't (don't) have it in the art category. So, onward and upward with gusto, Carter and Brooklyn.

I love those drawings! Especially the Batman one. :)

I'm working on turning our blog into a book right now too. I'm going to go by year. It's as close to scrapbooking as I'll ever get. :)

Wow his drawing are amazing! I love the Batman! Cole has NO patience for coloring and will hurry and scribble quickly so he can be off and running. I so wish he'd sit and color with effort. I LOVE new boxes of crayons too! I love the smell, the shiny colors and all of the possiblilities! Yeah Carter!
