I forgot to add this to my last list but want to remember this for Carter's sake.
Most Sundays after church Allen and the HPG empty all the trash cans in the church. A couple weeks ago I was sitting in the RS room waiting for him to finish and Addie was asleep on my lap. It was taking a long time to empty the trash. In a moment of exasperation I said out loud:
"What in the world is your dad doing out there?"
Carter replied, "I think he's out hunting buffalo."
Me: "What?!? Why would daddy be hunting buffalo?"
Carter: "So we can eat the meat and the skins can keep us warm."
Um... ok? We laughed about it for a week.
I was reminded of this tonight as Carter was giving Makenna a thorough explanation on buffalo hunting and skinning. I literally have NO idea where he learned about it.

Creative thinking--and so young. Maybe he'll be an Alex (from Nim's Island) or a famous newscaster who'll need to make a clever comment off the top of his head. Perhaps he heard about the bison thing because of very recent Colorado news regarding the careless and wanton slaying of 35 bison. All were left where they dropped! Only in the "wild, wild West."

Random comments are always the best. It's interesting to see what your kids pick up and remember. Cute!
