Shoot me now!

Aaaaaargh. As if I needed a reason to hate WalMart any more than I already do. I'm crazy busy trying to get ready to go to Utah this weekend. More crazy than usual because we are camping for a couple days and that requires so much more gear than normal.

On my to do list this week was to get an oil change on my car. It's only about 1,000 miles overdue. So today I truck all three kids over to WalMart where I can get a quick change and buy a few remaining items for the trip. I check in my car and hand over my keys and the guy tells me it will be ready in 10 minutes.

I do my shopping and return to pick up the car. I paid for my oil change and then..... they can't find my keys. ANYWHERE. There were 5 people looking for my keys for about 15 minutes. Addie needed a nap so badly, the other two kids were hungry and needing a potty stop. So, I told them that I was going to run my kids to the restroom (yuckyuckyuck) and then take them up to the McDs at the front of the store. Gave them my cell phone number to call me to keep me posted. Then I called Al and put him on alert that he might have to leave work to bring me some keys.

After I fed the kids (about 25 minutes later) I went back to the auto counter and found that not only had they not located my keys, they had not come up with any solution for me. Hadn't called the manager or anything. I'm wondering if they thought my keys were going to magically appear or maybe I would forget about them or what?!?! By this time I was more than just inconvenienced, I was mad. Really mad. I called Al to come over and bring me some keys. By the time he got there, about 3 managers were finally bustling around trying to think of a solutions. They called all the customers who had been in that morning to see if they had given the wrong keys to someone, etc. Finally, they refunded my oil change and committed to paying to replace my keys. The keyless entry remote is going to be $200 alone.

I'm finally home (this entire debacle took 3 precious hours today) and everyone is happily fed and in bed. Now I have to see about replacing everything before we leave. Seriously, what a nightmare.

Since I'm here, I might as well say that I'm not sure how long the whole private blog thing is going to last. When I decided to go private I had no idea that blogger only allows you to invite 100 viewers. Sooooo... I have quite a few more than 100 people who have requested an invite. Stay tuned, I'm not sure what I'm going to do.

Holy cow, more than 100 viewers on your blog? Girl, you are POPULAR!

I'm so sorry you had such a traumatic experience at WalMart--the fact that they refunded your $$ and are going to replace all your keys does not change the fact that they are humongous doofuses (or is that doofi?).

Have a GREAT time in Utah!

I. Hate. Walmart.

The (sometimes) money saved just doesn't make up for the hassle, IMHO. Too bad Target doesn't do oil changes, right? ;)

What a pain! Makes you wonder what they would have done if Alan couldn't have come with more keys!

That is terrible. Now I feel justified in being paranoid about that kind of stuff. I always take my car key off the key chain and keep my other keys and the keyless entry with me. I’m so sorry that that happened. I would have flipped out.

I am so sorry this happened to you. I had my tires changed at Walmart once. I came back two hours after shopping and they still hadn't changed the tires. They couldn't figure out how to start my car, ugh. So why didn't they call my cell when they first discovered the problem?

And sorry about the blog privacy thing. You could start a whole new blog using just your kids first letters of their names and avoid use of your last name, and then never mention local school names and such. Just send the new blog link to all those who requested access.
