Busy doing...nothing

You know what I mean? Life is just busy, but not necessarily note worthy. I'm enjoying the calm before the December holiday storm and just trying to get a few things done around here...

* My kids are all better so that makes me incredibly happy!! Carter has a lingering cough but that is it.

* Sterilizing all the bedding and toys to get the last of the germies out

* Hiking with my Activity Day girls yesterday - I am old and out of shape compared to them. They kicked my trash but I was able to keep up.

* Going to the movies with my kiddos (twice in the last week :). Hiking with my kids - we've found a new love. Crafting with my kids - all things Thanksgiving and Turkeys.

* Lots of bike riding and playing outdoors. We've got to live it up while we can around here. We've been loving the temps in the low to mid 70s

* Christmas shopping

* Ignoring all the emails for the fabulous sales that are happening right now. We must be in a recession because there are lots of stores doing great shopping perks. I'm in anti spend mode though and have to remind myself, "we have enough"

* Cleaning out cabinets/ organizing and dejunking toys

* Attending book club, girls night and dinner group exchange

And really, that is about it. Like I said, busy but not noteworthy. I like to have a record of what we've been up to. I'll have to add some pictures later!

I have to make a note about your 'words to live by'. It is so true, and you are a perfect example of that!

I, too, am loving your words to live by and have been meaning to tell you for a while how much I love it. I am LOL about the Activity Day girls kicking your trash! I'm sure you did great. Hiking, as you know, is a favorite family activity for us. Glad everyone is finally healthy! And I was just talking to a friend this morning about how they are practically giving away clothes at some stores - well not really, but close! It is tempting, and hard to stick with the thought "I have what I need." BTW, we had stake conference with a regional broadcast on Sunday (did your mom tell you about it?) The talks were about materialism, the law of the harvest, and other related topics. In his address, Elder Hales said that every couple needs to learn to say 4 words to each other on a regular basis: "We can't afford it." It made me think of our conversation...

When I was in the stake RS Presidency in Michigan, I remember visiting a small branch for a ward conference. As we were visiting with the RS presidency, a youngish mother told this story. "I recently had a letter reminding me of my upcoming 15-year HS Reunion. One of the things I had to do was to fill out a form and to indicate what I had been doing for the past 5 years since our 10-year reunion. I remember thinking, I have never been so busy in my life, but I can't think of one thing to say on the class reunion form." Such is life.

I am trying to ignore the fabulous deals too! We don't need anything else...but there is always so much to want. You are smart to look away. I feel so much like you...busy, busy, busy and yet uneventful at the same time, LOL. It's weird.

I hear ya on nothing noteworthy, but still feeling plenty busy. The story of my life.

I'm also trying to avoid the sales and low prices. Yeah, prices are low, but we have so much stuff already! And, I don't need clothes because I have an attic full of smaller sizes just waiting for me to get back into them.

Oh, I totally agree, we are busy with nothingness too! And you're right about the online coupons and deals, I think I've become "friends and family" with every store in the mall - ha!

I've been fighting a "let's just throw all this crap out" urge for the last three weeks. I hear you.

Also, Thanksgiving can't come fast enough. I'm ridiculously excited.
