It all started two Wednesdays ago when M started to complain about her ear hurting. A day later A was pulling on her ear and getting more fussy. I was able to get them both on antibiotics the next day and hoped for the best. By Sunday M was a disaster - hoarse, coughing, feverish. We went to Sacrament Mtg. so we could see the primary program and then I brought the girls home from church. M missed school on Monday and only attended for the last hour on Wednesday so she wouldn't miss the Halloween party. By Thurs. she seemed to be pulling out of it and mostly just had a cough. I thought maybe we were out of the woods.
Friday (Halloween) morning I noticed that A was getting hoarse. Uh, oh. If you've never heard a hoarse baby, it's pretty cute (but sad nonetheless). At first she seemed ok and was having fun discovering her new "voice." By the time we hit the ward party, I could tell she was actually sick. She had a fever and was stuffed up. Saturday I kept M home from dance and let Al handle the soccer game alone since A was really sick. By the afternoon she was having a hard time breathing. We kept taking her into the steamy bathroom to try to clear her out but it wasn't helping.
I ended up at the ER with her on Saturday evening because her breathing was getting more labored and the steam wasn't helping. Luckily we have a pediatric ER close to our house so they were able to get her right in. She received two breathing treatments and some steroids and was breathing a ton better almost immediately. They kept us for several hours to observe her (have you ever been in the ER with a tired/sick/hungry baby? Miserable!) and then sent us home. She has been a lot better since but is still clearly sick.

On Sunday morning Carter woke up with a fever. Al kept all the kids home from church while I attended stake conference by myself. He has all the symptoms of the other kids and is now home from school for the 2nd day. This is a slooooow moving illness. It's been 2 weeks since M showed her first signs and she's still coughing a lot.
I'm burned out of being cooped up in the house. We haven't been much of anywhere except for a few errands. Today I might take the kids out to lunch just for a break. Anyway, this isn't particularly exciting for anyone to read but it's what we've been up to around here.
On a related note, our little bruiser has finally broken the 15 lb. mark at nearly 9 months. She was 15 lb. 2 oz. when she was weighed at the ER. I was stunned that she is still so tiny. She seriously eats like a horse. She must have inherited my super stellar metabolism that I enjoyed once upon a time! {Both other kids were around 15 lbs. at 2 months}. The weight range for most 6-12 month clothes starts at 17 lbs. She's our peanut!
And since this post is going on and on anyway (and I'm complaining a bit), can I just say how tired I am of my older two fighting these last few days. They've gotten the teasing/bugging each other bit down to a science. I've had to split them up more than once! Ugh.

I hate weeks like your past two have been. Luckily for us, we haven't caught any bugs around here yet. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we stay healthy through Thanksgivig.
My Addison is 14 lbs, 4 ozs so she's catching up to your Addie, awfully quickly!!
My older two have perfected the art of bugging each other, as well. It's amazing to me how they will pick at each other. Sad, but I remember being the exact same way as a kid.
Hope everyone is healthy soon!
Addison is a teensy little thing! I'm sorry she had to make a trip to the ER :( Hope everyone is healthy again ASAP - hang in there!
I hope everyone feels better soon! That is the trouble with sickness and kids- it seems like they just pass it back and forth to each other. Hang in there- I hope you can get out and get a break soon!
Wow, no fun at all! I'm so sorry it's been such a rough road for you guys, I hope life gets back to normal soon!
And if it makes you feel better, Isabel was just over 16 pounds at a year. Tiny but feisty, I say! Sounds like A will be the same! So cute.
Don't you just hate flu season! We're in the middle of a string of yucky stuff too. It's really hard when there are so many kids to cycle through. I hope you guys are able to get healthy again soon!
Oh, sorry that everyone has been so sick! I always found that the first year in a new school (preschool, kindy, etc.) was a bad one for germs because everyone had to get used to all the "new" germs.
Hope everyone is in the pink soon. And, if Miss Addie needs another breathing treatment, you may want to see if you can get a nebulizer through your insurance. We got one for Jason when he was having trouble a few years ago and my sister in LV has one for her youngest that they have ended using quite a bit.
Having sick kids is tough! Sick babies, even worse. So sorry. Hang in there, hopefully this means you'll have had your turn, and everyone will be healthy for the Holidays.
OK, I'm not visiting you any time soon. (Of course considering I haven't visited you any time lately that isn't much of a threat.) I have to agree, hoarse babies are really cute, but its still really sad.
The croup is what we called it! Same thing with Addie, just named differently. Both Teresa and Nicole had trips overnight at the hospital with croup. Nicole was our croup kid. We learned quickly about steam tents and the famous Dr. Laux honey, whiskey and lemon cough syrup. It was a miracle! You'll learn lots! Don't forget the garlic bags. Again, miraculous!
Mom
awwwww...poor baby Addie. She is so cute and it's so sad that she's been so sick. Two weeks of the sickies and I would run away. I am so sorry. Hopefully by next week you'll be healthy again.
Oh Monique!! 2 weeks is a LONG time to have sick kids!!I hope that this coming up week is MUCH better!!
I hope your family feels better soon. Having sick kids is never fun and makes Mom even more tired and susceptible to getting sick too (which is even worse!).
I am so sorry you have had such a rough time. We certainly understand the ear infection thing. Hope you are all doing better by now.....
Yuck - ER, breathing treatments, 2 other sick little ones at home. Been there. It stinks. Hope it's getting better!!!
