The Turkey Hill Divide

Allen and I are connoisseurs of ice cream. It's almost my favorite treat in the world. Yesterday, Al was dishing up a bowl and said, "Man, I really miss Turkey Hill ice cream." I haven't thought about TH for at least two years, since we left the east coast.

We were gloriously introduced to TH when we were invited to the Coons' house for dinner our first Sunday living in CT (do you remember that Amy?). A love affair was born that lasted for the entire 4 years we lived in CT. It's the best ice cream I've ever had (and even better since it was almost always on sale somewhere for about $2 per half gallon).

So... here's the question. Since we have friends living all over the country, I'm curious if you can get Turkey Hill where YOU live. Just how far east would we have to travel to find some deliciousness? Forget about the great divide, the Mason Dixon line, etc. Where is the Turkey Hill divide?

Weigh in please!

{Isn't it so much more fun to talk about food than politics?}

I myself have never partaken of Turkey Hill, but I've read about it on the internet many, many times. Hmmm, rhe store finder says there are no stores carrying it within 149 of me. I'm guessing it's more like 949 miles to the nearest Turkey Hill experience. I'll be curious to hear what you find out.

This is funny to me. When Charles and I lived in CT we always said "Why would you want ice cream called Turkey Hill?" It makes me think of meat ice cream. So we never tried. I guess we missed out.

Turkey Hill was really good. I esp. loved the vanilla in the black container. Yummy! Blue Bell is what we have here and it's really good. No Turkey Hill here.

I'm with Mindy on this... what a weird name for ice cream. I would probably have avoided it too.

Please keep in mind that Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream is I.N.C.R.E.D.I.B.L.E.

Never heard of them and their store locator says there isn't one for 149 miles. What's so good about Turkey Hill?

I am the famed Amy of this story, the introducer of the ever delicious Turkey Hill ice cream.(I didn't realize my role in this!) Monique, you and the fam are going to have to come to OH and partake again the Turkey Hill tradition! That is very sad you don't have it! We don't have a huge selection here, but we do have it. The mint choco chip will forever be my favorite. For any of you Baskin-Robbins fans, this flavor is identical...you know, the shaved dark chocolate bits...mmm. Excellent quality. I'm getting hungry. :)

We have huge selections in every grocery store here in PA! YUM! My favorite brand for mint choco chip is Green's though - do you have that brand? I have never thought about the name Turkey Hill being weird, but I refuse to eat "PET" brand ice cream - what is THAT about???

I have a tub of Turkey Hill in my freezer as I write this! And yes, it is yummy! Although, I'm not sure Maryland is any closer to you that CT!

You'll have to go further than the Mississippi. There's no Turkey Hill here in IL.

We've got it here in NC! I like it but, I have to admit I prefer Breyers.
