Goodnight Goon

As I was perusing Target this week ( a favorite past time of mine), I found an awesome new book for my kids. Goodnight Goon by Michael Rex is a "petrifying parody" of Margaret Wise Brown's Goodnight Moon .

It is an absolute hoot and has the same rhyme and cadence as the original. Of course my kids L-O-V-E it (I've already read it to M 3 times this morning), especially since we all have the original Goodnight Moon memorized. The illustrations are awesome too.

Here's a couple of pages (just so you get the feel for it). Call me if you want me to read you the entire thing over the phone:

"In the cold gray tomb
There was a gravestone
And a black lagoon
And a picture of -

Martians taking over the moon"

You get the idea. It is absolutely hilarious! I found mine with the Halloween books at T

Sounds like a great book! Our school always does a book fair in October and the Halloween book are always so tempting! Well, that and the Christmas books- I am a sucker for those too!

The glitter letters on my fall project are Making Memories and I just got those at my LSS.

I still had in my inbox to answer your lunch container question- I put juice boxes, fruit snacks, individual crackers and cookie packages, applesauce, pudding, etc. I bought a whole of of prepackaged stuff at first and now I am trying to buy bigger boxes and just transfer them to smaller baggies myself. Hope that helps, sorry I was so lame and didn't answer sooner!

I always look so forward to anything you post. I love all your fun ideas. I wish I could be your neighbor. Awesome job on the weight loss. I am so impressed because I am not a super huge fan of exercize. You can do it.

Hey Monique! I am totally planning on getting that book. Love it! Hey are you still interested in having me take photos when I am in Phoenix in January. I only have one day available and I would love to visit.

I'll have to check it out! My kids like "Cinderella Skeleton" at the moment. It's quite gross, but it's about a "princess" so the girls are all over it!

Oh, and way to go on the WW! You'll have to post some good low cal. recipes for us. I don't do low cal. and need to start!

I was just at Target today buying un-fun things like diapers and laundry detergent. I need to go back to find this book. The boys would really enjoy it!

Oh, I did see this fun thing at Target though--kids' birthday cards based on Classic Golden Books or Eric Carle books. REALLY cool.

How cute! I'm going to look for it next time I'm at Target...which is oh, every other day or so - lol.

Monique, I am writing down your food storage 101 ideas. Now that I've started I'm on a roll. Water is HUGE and I have one of those blue tubs filled from 1999! But that's it! Gross I'm sure by now. How long might 100 pounds of flour and sugar last in those 60 qt. bins? And, once I've opened it, do you have any idea how long it's good? Probably as long as no buggies are getting to it, right?? Anywho you gave me some GREAT ideas for my 3 month supply and listed a good reason why (gas inflation) we may need it sooner than we think. One more thing....where did you get cereals for $1? I'm not a coupon girl so perhaps I'm stuck with $2.50 a box!
That book looks really cute :>
