A day of Love

Happy Valentines Day! We've had a fun day. All of our parties were yesterday so it was nice to have the day to ourselves. Al and I considered our date last Friday our Vtines date since it's always such a zoo going out on the actual holiday and almost impossible to find a mid week babysitter.

I love Valentines Day. After Christmas it's probably my favorite holiday. My mom is a holiday lover so she always made the little holidays a big deal at my house. And for us it was a family holiday, not a couples holiday. So this morning, we had heart shaped pancakes, pink milk and little gifts for each other. Al was so cute and had a little scavenger hunt made up for me to find all my little gifts. He wasn't supposed to get me anything because I got Valentine dishes this year but he got me flowers and some of my favorite treats. I gave him a bucket of all his favorite things too. His favorite thing was the homemade coupons I made for him. Good for things like ironing a months worth of shirts, hot breakfast once a week for a month and me packing his lunch for him for a week. All things he hates to do so I thought I could perform some good service for him. Here's the kids with their little gifts. It was more than we would normally do but these were all leftover Christmas gifts that I'm still trying to get to them (we overbought at Christmas and decided to save some stuff for future holidays). Carter is now obsessing over Mary Poppins and wanted to watch it twice today. My kids have eaten enough junk in the last couple days to kill a horse. We are going on a big sugar hiatus starting tomorrow.
Here are the kids in their Vtines garb. Hooray for PhotoShop, which saved my lousy pictures today!
Tonight we decided to do a family fondue party. We had cheese fondue with bread, apples and veggies. Then we did chocolate with marshmallows, pretzels, strawberries and angel food cake.

Heavenly! I don't know if you can see their faces well here but they are covered in chocolate! Oh, and can you see my CUTE new dishes? I got the plates and matching cups. Love and adore!

I'm just waiting for Al to come home from scouts to snuggle in for a new episode of LOST! Hope you had a love filled day!

Wow - you are the coolest! I'm determined to start some good traditions for all of the holidays - big and small! I wish I was on top of things like you! Makenna is getting so big. They are both just so cute!! It will be fun if we get to see you while we are in AZ!
