One of mine and Al's new years resolutions is to spend more quality one-on-one time with the kids. One of the things we've started doing is Saturday dates once a month. We each take one of the kids and they get to do an activity of their choice with us. On Saturday Al and Carter went to the movies to see Speed Racer. They both liked the movie but when I asked Carter what his favorite part of the movie was, he quickly replied, "The Incredible Hulk preview." Sigh. Since he has never seen a superhero movie, it's hard to say where his obsession comes from. He's really disappointed that we won't let him see
Ironman or Hulk this summer. Maybe in about 5 years.
Makenna and I got lunch and then came home and played Polly Pockets and read all 3 Fancy Nancy books (her favorites!). Then I gave her a manicure and pedicure, which she thought was the greatest thing in the world. Showing off her nails:

It's so fun to see how much our kids love their individual attention from us. They do miss each other when they're apart though and are always excited to be reunited.

Ah, Polly Pockets. Need I say more? She looks cute! I just painted Briar's nails for the first time --and now she's addicted, she shows them to everyone. Sounds like you had some good dates.
What a great idea! Will you switch and take the other kid the next time?
I love M's nails, and she looks so cute, even with her sad nose!
What a cutie! How fun that you do that.
So fun! I need to be more regular about our dates. Our next one will probably be when the boys have their 'father-son' campout next month. Be sure to share what you do for each of your dates so that we can get some ideas!
Oh..her nose. She is so cute. I love her polka dots and her cute nails. What a fun idea. I love her.
It is a great idea, Brian and I have talked a lot about the importance of one-on-one dates with the kids. She looks like she thoroughly enjoyed her spa date with mom!
What a fun idea. You are such great parents. :) McKenna looks thrilled with her nails.
When I was 6 years old, I fell down a steep cliff while I was helping my brother Peter deliver papers. I scraped my nose and actually ended up with a small rock in my nostril. Ah, childhood skirmishes!
Mom
you know she's cute if she still looks darling w/ a skinned up nose! Sounds like sweet memories were made!
I really need to do better with this. What a fun tradition.
