Spring Dance Recital

This weekend was Makenna's spring dance recital. Her dress rehearsal was Friday evening so she and I rushed off almost immediately after returning from our trip. Crazy. Parents were only allowed to take pictures and video that night so this was not the actual performance! I'm having issues getting the video to upload to blogger (we got a new camera last week so it might just be that I don't know what I'm doing yet), so these pictures will have to suffice for now (sorry Mom). They did two numbers, a ballet number with the tutus and a tap number where they had some funky little shorts instead of the tutu. The girls looked adorable!

With her class:

Flowers from Daddy:

While she LOVED being on stage (she is quite a little performer), I think her favorite part of the whole experience was getting to wear a face full of makeup for two days! She's made some cute little friends from her class and I've gotten to know the moms quite well too!

Now, what to do with the ridiculously expensive costume?! Dance moms (Holly, Hilary, anyone) weigh in here and tell me what you do with your costumes once the recital is over. We are taking the summer off from dance and then I'm going to change studios for the fall. Makenna has absolutely adored taking dance this year and I've loved having her in it.

She looks adorable! I love that Daddy buys her flowers!

Hmmmmmm, expensive, useless costumes... maybe dance isn't in the girls future after all! Good luck finding something to do with it! Maybe start a "memory" quilt or something like that!

Oh Jenni, you have NO idea. Here's the breakdown:

Costume $65
Tickets to Recital $21 (yep, they have to rent out an auditorium and we had to buy tickets to go)
Professional DVD $35
Professional Pictures $12

Good thing it is only once a year!!! I have called around to several studios around here and this is pretty much the going rate everywhere. I guess I have to get used to it because I'd guess we're in for the long haul.

She is SO adorable in her dance costume - and I love her with the flowers from daddy - too sweet! I would put the costume in the dress up bin - I'll bet it gets a lot of use from her and Addison ;-)

awww. She is adorable. How fun! I miss the stage with my little girls. I know they are super expensive, but I always let my girls keep their dance costumes for nicer dress-ups. Hang them in the playroom closet, and she can pull them out when she wants to play Princess. ;)

I probably already told you this, but Dad always bought me flowers for my dance recitals. Good on ya, Al.

You don't even know the worst of it. My daughter's 10 year old friend is on the dance team with a bill of over $5000 a year in costumes, recital fees, travel, and class fees.

Put the costume in the costume bin for sure. You can always let her wear it for one of the halloween parties you attend.

Oh gosh...the costume is so cute I'd let her wear it everyday! It's fun that she's such a little performer. She's so cute--and I love her big grin. What are you going to do with 2 little dancers? Lucky!

Makenna is just ADORABLE in all that fluffy pink!!! SO cute for her first recital!! As far as costumes go, I'm too lazy to do anything but throw them in the dress up box! ;o) But I've heard talk about my dance studio that people list them on ebay for pagent moms, etc. So that's an idea! :o) We're taking summer off of dance too...for Olivia anyway! ;o) And those costs are just about the same for us too...except our dance tickets are only $12 each. However, Zoe and Olivia's recitals are on two different nights and so we have to buy tickets for the whole fam TWICE!!!

she is too cute! I love her cheese smile... she's just fun. We just put ours in the dress up bin. Ebay for pageant moms is a fun idea for the nice ones!
