Weekend Away

I realize I need to get these pictures up before we head to DISNEYLAND next week!!

We escaped the valley just in time for the first 100 degree day! Al left work early on Friday and we drove up to Show Low and met up with his mom and sister, LJ. We had dinner with them and then drove to Pinetop where Al's mom has a timeshare. We all stayed in the timeshare on Friday night and then got up and played all day on Saturday. The condo is in a beautiful setting and has great amenities. We got up and swam in the heated outdoor pools for quite awhile. I sat in the hot tub almost the entire time and it was heavenly.

We also hiked around the condo a little bit:
Grandma and Addie

We went to lunch and then went back to the ranch in S.L. where we rode the 4 wheelers all afternoon:

Flew kites:

This is Makenna walking back up to the house. We had been playing hard all day and she took my hand and said, "Mom, I'm such a sleepyhead, I need to take a nap."

Al, Addie and I left in the early afternoon for our night away. Al's mom kept the big kids and took them to a musical being put on by the local high school. Apparently the kids loved it since there was lots of singing and dancing. Al and I got take out for dinner (Addie does NOT do well going places in the evening) and went to the condo to watch movies and hang out. The most glorious thing is that we slept in until 10:30 on Sunday morning. I can't think of the last time I slept that late.

The kids even carved a pumpkin that Al's mom grew in her garden last year. It cracked us up that it was the activity that Carter was the most into all weekend.

We picked up the kids and had a nice lunch with Al's mom before heading back to the valley. It was a quick weekend away but it was such a nice break and fabulous that Al and I *kind of* got time away. We're already planning an anniversary trip for next year that will not include any kiddos! We are grateful to Al's mom for sharing her timeshare with us and taking care of the kids! Thank you!
