This morning my sister called me, like she does almost every day (love it). She started talking to me about Makenna's nap issue. She told me about the daughter of a friend who would not nap so her mom started to lay down with her. It went from naps, to bedtime and now, years later she still will not sleep without someone in the room with her. She gave me strict instructions to NIP IT IN THE BUD now with Makenna.
I started to pump Makenna up at about 11:00 a.m. We just bought the kids a new Power Wheels toy that they are loooooving driving around all the empty lots in our neighborhood. So I told her, "no nap, no power wheels today." After several escapes from her room and several strong warning from mom, she finally fell asleep on her own. Hallelujah! Allen has the idea of turning the knob on her door around so I can lock it from the outside. We'll see how it goes for the next couple days before we resort to anything so drastic.

Yeah, but didn't you secretly like falling asleep too? And if that makes you the meanest mom ever, I'm in trouble. JJ
And I'm a giant sucker - lol - I STILL lay down with Harrison every night. Maybe your sister can give me a call!
Of course I totally LOVE the sleep. But I am really paranoid that I'm going to miss preschool pickup one day because I'll sleep straight through it. I at least need to put an alarm clock in there or something if this keeps up ;)
I'm with your sister. I've been called the sleep Nazi b/c I don't like to start any sleep habits with my kids that I don't want to continue. But they're all great sleepers :)
I'm a sleep nazi too... We DID turn around the locks on Ella's room! It took a couple months and now we leave her door open... Naps are harder because she can hear me doing things...
Oh... good luck... nap issues and potty training stink!
hey, sometimes tough love is what it takes. just don't forget that in 5 years you'll be wishing she would snuggle with you in bed...so take some extra moments when you can get them!
