Red Mobster

Tonight Al and I were supposed to meet up with some of his coworkers to go to dinner together. At the last minute one of the couples couldn't come so the entire evening fell apart. But since we already had a babysitter we decided to go out anyway (never ones to miss a night out together). Al received a gift card to Red Lobster as a work perk a few months ago so we decided to go ahead and use it tonight.

WORST.MEAL.EVER.

Allen said, "they should rename this place Red Mobster because it's like they have committed a crime against seafood."

I was laughing so so hard in the restaurant, I could hardly contain myself.

We were SO SPOILED with the fabulous seafood living in Seattle. The food tonight was like a bad dream. Luckily, we didn't pay for most of the meal. I told Al that the best part of the meal was my Diet Coke. That is sad. Please, please stay away from Red Mobster.

(Now I'm just waiting for Al to stop rewinding the last inning of the RedSox game so we can watch a movie)

Bummer! I actually like the Red Lobster by us, sorry your meal was so gross! I feel the same way when I go to Olive Garden and wonder how people can consider it good Italian food?!? But I'm glad you got to have a fun date night and good laugh about it - you and Al are so cute!

I am sorry you had such a bad experience. We never go to that restuarant, Andrew is allergic to seafood that comes out of cardboard boxes. :-) I need to comment on the comment though, my husband also dislikes Olive Garden.
He grew up eating homemade "real" italian food. His dad even makes pasta from scratch. I enjoy eating there, but I don't consider it authentic Italian. My husband wants to disown me for liking it, but what can you do? :-)

I, in my food arrogance, find Red Lobster an insult to seafood as well, so this post vindicated me.

I understand that although Red Lobster is a chain they are run by local franchise holders and have a great deal of latitude in running the place.

In Southern California we had one across from work that we think food poisoned my son Steven but after a change in management, the food was as good as any seafood I've eaten. Go figure (and wait for new management before going back.)

You couldn't PAY me to eat there. Just the other night J. and I saw one and commented that neither of us had eaten there and don't want to (not a big seafood fan anyways). As to the Olive Garden comments --- I totally agree. Won't pay them my money either. Everyone raves about their salad and breadsticks -- even I can make better than them. And, too overpriced for what you get. you'd be better off freqenting Cheesecake FActory ;)

Meeque,

Funny you should mention Red Lobster. Dad and I hadn't gone there for probably 20 years until a week ago Saturday. We only went there because it is near the World Market and we were going to look there for examples of African drums for the creche. I found the salad very mediocre but my entre was quite good. Don't know any more than that, but it certainly wasn't Mobsterish by an means. Cheesecake Factory is great, usually, but we try all kinds of places. One thing I have found is that a good experience at a restaurant is not a guarantee that it will be equally good the next time at the same place.

Oh yes, their food is nasty. When I read your post I saw it as "red monster" which would be appropriate as well, lol. But on the upside you got to have a grown up date night and some good chuckles.
