Kiddo Update

It's been way too long since I documented what my kids are "into" at the moment. So mostly this is for the grandmas and my own record in case I ever get back to scrapbooking (ha).

Carter:

Today was picture day at school so I snapped a few pics beforehand (you never know how Carter's hair will look even 5 minutes after you do it):

Loves: Superheroes, pirates, volcanoes, scorpions, making crafts/coloring (I spend so much time online trying to find our next craft project and cannot keep enough paper on hand for his coloring), reading (loves science and animal books and superhero books best), wrestling, school, recess

Fav Foods: cold cereal, OJ, pancakes, PB&J, all fruit but especially apples, pizza, bean burritos, hamburgers, grilled chicken, green beans, ice cream, yogurt

School: LOVES school and is doing great. So great that his teacher sends home a supplemental folder every week with early readers and math worksheets. She has also organized a meeting for us with the Kindergarten teachers so we can "discuss our options" for next year. He is very bright and advanced academically (sorry, I hate to say that but according to his teacher and the K teacher who has evaluated him, it is true)

Movies/TV: Pretty much only wants to watch the animated superhero movies I check out from the library. Will occasionally watch Dora/Diego if I make him. He also loves watching volcano eruption and scorpion videos at Discovery Channel

Other: Still such an easy going kid. Loves to tease his sister but they are great friends. He is such a good helper with Makenna. She hates to go upstairs alone so he will always go with her and help her find things, etc. Loves to ask incessant questions about superheroes and their lives. We try our best to humor him and he asks some pretty well thought out questions. We really have no idea where the superhero obsession started but it's pretty cute and funny. Is still a bit of a packrat and gets upset when I throw anything away. I have to sneak in his room when he's at school to get rid of things. He also wants to keep every worksheet/school item that he brings home.

Makenna: Had to get in on the picture taking action



Loves: Strawberry Shortcake, taking baths, playing babies, dressing up (she changes her clothes an average of 4 times a day, making lots of laundry for mom), talking on the phone to her grandparents and cousins, reading books (loves the David books, Curious George & Eric Carle books best), pink and sparkly things, having her finger/toenails painted EVERY day, going to the park, dance class

Fav Foods: Oatmeal, scrambled eggs, mac n cheese, hot dogs, bean burritos, corn on the cob, green beans, Popsicles, all fruit, chili

Movies/TV: Still obsessed with Toy Story 2, Christmas movies and Strawberry Shortcake videos. She doesn't have much of an attention span though and will only sit for a few minutes and watch before multitasking

Other: Defiant and testing the limits definitely describes Makenna right now. She is a boundary tester and sadly spends a lot of time in Time out. She will get to the very limit and still refuse to do what we ask her and then bawl when she has privileges taken away. But she is a total sweetie and loves to snuggle and be with us at all times. She is obsessed with Carter and hates to be away from him. She also refuses to take a nap unless I'm lying down with her. This is new since transitioning her into her bed and it's going to drive me crazy (I usually fall asleep and miss all my productive afternoon hours).

Love them so so much and cannot imagine my life without them! (PS - I was dying to put a fall outfit on C for his pictures but alas, it is 100 degrees again today and I thought it would be too unfair to do that to him - sigh).
